Week number one... into the countryside

With week number one under our belt, we have so far done 368km, over 3000m climb and a top speed of 55km/hr!  With our bikes weighing in at over 35kg, this seems like a fair distance.  However, with over 5000km to go from start to finish it hardly seems to make a dent!  We did say that the first week we would take it easy though, so tomorrow is when the real fun begins!

Here's our route so far:

Today we're taking a off-day (so Debbie can recover from a sore butt!) in a little town called Temora, in the heart of sheep, cattle and canola land, after our longest ride ever - 84km from yesterday from Young.

Here's a brief overview of what we've come across so far:
1. nice neighbour campers who greeted us with tea and biscuits in the morrning
2. an old steam engine coming down the road at 4km/hr

3. camping with the steam engine and it's operators by the Wollondilly river
4. gravel roads where Debbie fell, in comic slow motion according to Jacques, and scraped her leg

5. lots of kamakazi mag pies, a few a live and quite a few dead
6. a slow moving turtle in the middle of the road, which Jacques saved from a quick death-by-truck

7. lots of dead things (lizzards/turltes/snakes/roos/echinads/wombats/birds/etc.)
8. lots of cute little towns, and a few not-so-cute ones
9. a group of bleeting baby goats running after us down the fence line
10. some horses being trained for harness-racing next to one of our camping spot
11. a herd of cows slowly moving down the road accompanied by two children on horses (I think red saddle bags probably make us good targets for the bulls)

12. lots of big open places and green rolling country side, which is noticably getting flatter and drier as we go west
13 ... and a lot of other random things:

Bundanoon / notice the 2 cups given by our neighbour!
